Married Sarah Conway in Bourbon CO, KY in 1793. Paid personal property tax in

1788-1793, 1797, 1799, 1801; and paid in Harrison CO KY 1800, 1802-1811,

1813, 1816, 1817. In 1810 he paid tax on 55 acres in Bourbon.

In Jan 1818 or 1819 he sold his part of his parents estate to his sister

Lucy Jones (Bourbon Co deed Np532)

Nathan moved on and nothing else in known. Ben Coke makes a clear statement

that the Nathaniel Underwood whose 1812 Veterans record reflects he enlsited

in HC Gists Company, 28th Regt Infantry at Paris KY on 26 Jul 1814 and was

discharged at Lower Sandusky, Ohio, 25 Jun 1815 with full entitlements to

land bounty by law is the same Nathan Underwood recorded above as the

seventh child of REUBEN UNDERWOOD. The discharge paper of the time give

reference to his birth place VA, approximate age of 40, 5 ft, 9 inches in

height, brown complexition, dark eyes, dark hair and occupation of a farmer.

The discharge was signed by First Lieutenant Thos. E. Boswell.

Ben Coke uncovered the fact he recieved land bounty in Illinois in Sec 26,

Twp 2m, Range 5W. The warrant number was 13897, and the patent was delivered

to Hon. R. M Johnosn, Great Crossings KY (REF: War of 1812 Bounty Lands in

IL, 1840/1947 pg 424). Mr. Coke states that Nathan and Sarah must have

seperated soon after their son Rueben was born. In Bourbon Co KY Court Order

Dp499, Jun 1812, proves that son; Rueben, son of Nathan Underwood, age 14 on

17 Mar last is bound to Aaron Griffing, saddler. He referenced the HISTORY

OF THE EARLY SETTLERS OF SANGAMON CO IL 1876, pg 733.

                Mr Coke recorded "Little" Reuben's birthdate as 17 mar 1798. Nothing more

                reflected in Mr. Coke's book on "Little" REUBEN SON OF NATHAN UNDERWOOD OF
