Matilda Underwood of Wyalusing
Grove Co., Wisconsin, was born in Greenup Co., KY abt. 1830 and married
Dawson Winn B. 1828 in England. Matilda died between 1866 and 1870 in St.

NOTE of interest from GenForum,
Date: August 27, 2000 at 06:38:52, by P. Hadley Price (bpp@dpnet.net)
""Underwood disease" is almost
certainly the familial version of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). It is known
that it affected--and is still inherited by descendants of--some early
families: Underwoods, Farrs, Hadleys, Wetherbys (various spellings), perhaps
others."
****************************************************
Matilda's children are listed in
the 1870 U. S. Census, St. Clair Co., Chalk Level Twp., Missouri, living
with her parents, Willis and Margaret Underwood. They are listed with
surname UNDERWOOD instead of WINN. Isadora, age 12; Laura, age 10; Willis,
age 8; Josephine, age 7; Margaret, age 4. This leads me to presume Matilda
died prior to census date of June 2(0), 1870.
Next door are Matilda's brother,
Bembridge Underwood, age 24 and wife Mary (Turner), age 21.
