He was convicted on 54 counts of murder and hanged in Nashville, Tennessee on October 30, 1865. Zilpha Huff Ferguson (1802-1888) mother of Champ, and (aunt? of Martin's wife?) is buried nearby. (per Darla Glover *********************************** (source: Darla Duvall Glover < Dddoglover@aol.com >, from Cliff Gorbin's genealogy data on worldconnect.rootsweb.com ) "Lewis and Didama Huff were Didama (Huff) Duvall's Uncle and Aunt. And it looks like Lewis and Didama were cousins. Lewis is the son of Daniel Huff. Alexander is the son of John Huff. Alexander and John were brothers, their parents were Philip Hoff and Racheal Jackson. Didama Huff is the Daughter of John and Alexander is her brother. Somewhere there was a name change from Hoff to Huff." *********************************** (source: Darla Duvall Desautels I have just started with the Huff side of my family. I'll tell you what I know and maybe you call fill in the blanks. My gg grandmother was Didama Huff married to Martin VanBuren Duvall. Her father was Alexander Huff. I know that he was killed in 1862? by Champ Ferguson?. That started a feud between the Ferguson's & Huff's. Champ also killed Didama's husband 1865. Her mother was Martha Sallee (they must have called her "Patsy"). I think they were from Tennesee but moved to KY when Alexander was killed out of fear since his death. That's about all I know. Would love any information beyond that.
