  Mildred Lucille Zech

  ZECH, Mildred Lucille — Went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2004. She lived 95 fruitful years before passing on due to age related causes with her family at her side. She was born on November 17, 1909, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Herbert and Nellie Meeder. She graduated from North High School and attended business college in Denver, Colorado. She worked as a secretary for Standard Implement Co. where she met her future husband, Harold Zech. Harold and Mildred married on August 13, 1930, in Brighton, Colorado, and had three children. Later they were part owners of Standard Implement Co., a Case Tractor dealership. They retired in 1961 and moved to Oceanside, California, and then Garden Grove, California, before buying a home and property in Roseburg in 1969. Mildred and Harold enjoyed many years together traveling in their motor home and visiting friends and relatives. They enjoyed many activities together including fishing, rock hounding and card playing. Mildred loved to walk and was very competitive at the game of Scrabble where she would come up with words that most of us have never heard of, but words she could confirm in the dictionary. She is famous for her rocky road chocolate cake, as well as her cinnamon rolls and carmel corn at Christmas time. Mildred was a devout Christian, and served the Lord for over 80 years of her life. She was a member of North Roseburg Evangelical Church for many years, and was a positive influence and mentor to a multitude of friends and her family. She was cherished by so many people because of her sweet, caring and sincere concern for others. She always put others before herself, and was a powerful prayer warrior. She loved to sit at her kitchen table to have bible studies and prayer. There are too many friends to list who had the privilege to study and pray with her, those who did, know who they are. She enjoyed having her meals delivered to her, but especially loved Kentucky Fried Chicken, and her Frostys from Wendy’s. She endured many physical challenges in the later part of her life, however she never complained, accepting God’s Will for her life no matter what it was. She used every opportunity to not only share the "Good News", but to live it out daily. She was a true disciple of Christ, and walked in the Spirit continually. She was a longtime supporter of Evangelist Billy Graham, Radio Bible Class, and Through the Bible Radio. Survivors include a son, Lyle Zech and his wife, Wanza of Grayson, California; daughters-in-law, Shirley Zech of San Jose, California; Carol Zech of Roseburg, who Mildred described as being one of her "Angels" over the years; niece, Barbara Oester and her husband, Bud of Colorado; grandchildren, Laurie Busenbark of Eugene; Lynda Wolfe of Roseburg; Dave Zech and his wife, Tami of Eugene; Travis Zech and Jason Zech of Grayson; Lisa Zech of Yuma, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Kevin Busenbark; Jasmin Zech; and Dave Busenbark, all of Eugene; Dale Wolfe of Roseburg; Zachariah Zech of California; Anthony and Delfina Solario of Yuma; Cathy Amondson of Eugene; Nickolas Zech of Grants Pass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Zech; two sons, Dale Zech and Glenn Zech; grandson, Kenneth Zech. A public viewing is planned for Sunday, December 26, 2004, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses. A graveside service is set for Monday, December 27, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Roseburg Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and to the American Cancer Society. WILSON’S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES is in charge of arrangements.
